If so, please come along and join in Coxhoe Parish Council’s Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day, We will be gathering at 5.45 pm at the flagpole outside of Coxhoe Village Hall on Tuesday, 3 September 2019

Following our inaugural event last year, we are looking to commemorate Merchant Navy Day as we look to raise our community’s awareness of our island nation’s reliance on seafarers and shipping.

Once again, we are supporting the Seafarers UK campaign to fly the Red Ensign on Merchant Navy Day in honour of the brave men and women who kept our island nation afloat during two World Wars. Even during peacetime  our Mercanat Navy has faced, and continues to face, the more routine perils of violent storms and mountainous seas. With 95% of our imports carried by ship, including almost half of the food we eat.We also have regular fuel imports andwithout which the merchant Navy,our power stations would soon close. With more sea ports and harbours and a longer coastline than any other European country, we depend on the Merchant Navy to export over 75% of our goods

Last year’s event was attended by family members and friends of those currently serving in the Merchant Navy, as well as County Councillors; Parish Councillors, Coxhoe Scout Group and members of the public

The Parish Council is holding a public consultation event on the possible development of the former School House site in Front Street. The event will take place on Thursday, 11 July in Coxhoe Village Hall between 5.00 pm and 7.30 pm.

Each year the Council’s Annual Return, which we published yesterday, is audited by an auditor appointed by Public Sector Audit Appointments Limited. Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounts to be audited and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them. For the year ended 31 March 2019 these documents will be available on reasonable notice on application to:

commencing on 10 June 2019;

and ending on   19 July 2019.

Local Government Electors and their representatives also have:

• the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounts; and
• the right to make objections to the accounts or any item in them.

Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Council. The auditor can be contacted at the address below for this purpose during the inspection period identified above.  The audit is being conducted under the provisions of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, the Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2015 and the National Audit Office’ Code of Audit Practice.  Your audit is being carried out by:

We would like to say a big thank you for everyone who turned out on the last two Saturdays for our Parish Plan 3 community engagement events.

Despite the bad weather over 30 people attended our event in Coxhoe Village Hall this morning. It generated a good deal of discussion, ideas and participants.We will keep everyone up to date with progress via our website, social media and The Chronicle.

Parish Plan 3 2019 to 2024

There is  a Councillor vacancy on Coxhoe Parish Council to represent Coxhoe. The vacancy will be filled by co-option.

Too much Dog Dirt in the villages? Car Parking a nightmare? Speeding traffic causing problems. Interested in how the Villages look and how we provide things for our young people? Have ideas how these can be addressed? Well why not come and join us and help us try to resolve the issues that exist in our communities. We need your help!

A vacancy has arisen for a Parish Councillor to serve the Coxhoe Ward. The first stage in the process is a formal notice. This will  determine how the vacancy is to be filled. If ten electors request in writing to the County Council that the vacancy be filled by election by 14 March, then such an election will take place.
