Volunteers set to paint village crossings gate

A group of volunteers are poised to paint the Village Crossings gate over the weekend, weather permitting.

The Volunteers include Coxhoe residents, the Parish Clerk, Claire Llewelyn and the voluntary web administrator. Claire said, ‘We initially asked for quotes  to undertake the work professionally. However, a local resident responded to our social media publicity to suggest that volunteers might come forward while volunteering himself. We subsequently had a great response to further social media posts and a volunteer team was assembled. The Parish Council is delighted at the response by committed members of our community and thank them in advance for the work they are prepared to do.’

The work involves scraping off flaking paint, sanding the gates down, priming and top coating.

If you pass them at work over the weekend please give them a wave, or a toot if you are driving.

Concerned about the state of our villages? – then come and help us resolve them

There is  a Councillor vacancy on Coxhoe Parish Council to represent Quarrington Hill. The vacancy will be filled by co-option.

Too much Dog Dirt in the villages? Car Parking a nightmare? Speeding traffic causing problems. Interested in how the Villages look and how we provide things for our young people? Have ideas how these can be addressed? Well why not come and join us and help us try to resolve the issues that exist in our communities. We need your help!

Confirmation regarding the exercise of public rights

Decorative image of calculator, spreadsheet and penWe published our Annual Return for the 2017 to 2018 financial year on 7 June 2018.  Coxhoe Parish Council must now inform the electorate of a 30 working day period during which public rights to inspect the annual accounts may be exercised.The inspection period must include the first 10 working days of July 2018. It must start the day after the annual return has been published on our website (or noticeboard for parish meetings) and publication must be as soon as practical after the unaudited annual return has been approved by the Authority, which was 6 June 2018. We are now hereby publicising the right to inspect the accounting documents as follows:

The Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014, and The Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2015 (SI 234)

1. Date of announcement:   8 June 2018

2. Each year the Council’s Annual Return is audited by an auditor appointed by Public Sector Audit Appointments Limited. Any person interested has the right to inspect and make copies of the accounts to be audited and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to them. For the year ended 31 March 2018 these documents will be available on reasonable notice on application to:

commencing on 18th June 2018 and ending on 27 July 2018.

3. Local Government Electors and their representatives also have:

  • the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounts; and
  • the right to make objections to the accounts or any item in them.

Written notice of an objection must first be given to the auditor and a copy sent to the Council.

The auditor can be contacted at the address in paragraph 4 below for this purpose during the inspection period at 2 above.

4.  The audit is being conducted under the provisions of the Local Audit and Accountability Act  2014, the Accounts and Audit (England) Regulations 2015 and the National Audit Office Code of Audit Practice.
