There is currently one vacancy for Coxhoe Ward. The vacancies will be filled by co-option. Candidates are asked to submit an expression of interest by 12.00 midday on Thursday 26 May 2022 in the first instance, so that their submissions can be considered by Parish Councillors at their meeting on Wednesday 8 June. If the vacancy is not filled, it will be re-advertised with a new closing date.

All welcome at community events in the Parish to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The UK and Commonwealth come together this year for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in celebration of the historic reign of Queen Elizabeth II. In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952 when Her Majesty was 25 years old.

An extended bank holiday, from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June, will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. Across the four days the celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflections on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

On Thursday 2 June, we are taking part in the National Beacon Lighting. Join us at Coxhoe Village Hall from 8.00pm for light refreshments, performances from ‘Cardiac Dodgers’ playing music from the 50’s onwards and an interactive display from Coxhoe History Group, followed by the lighting of beacons at 9.45pm, as beacons are lit all across the country. The beacons will be lit in (or near) the Memorial Garden and can be viewed from the Village Hall car park. Please gather in the car park for the beacon lighting, and keep safe by staying away from the road.

On Thursday 2 June there is a Celebration Event at Quarrington Hill Community Centre starting at 6.30pm. This fun, family event will feature DJ Kevin Mangles, Youth Club activities, face painting, ice cream van, refreshments and more, and Beacon Lighting as part of the national programme will be at 9.45pm.

On Friday 3 June, join us at the field in Coxhoe Park for a Party in the Park from 12.00pm to 4.00pm. Bring your picnic baskets, rugs and chairs – and suitable clothing for a British Bank Holiday – and relax in the park. The Active Life Centre will be open for children to play on their fantastic inflatables. We will have various activities in the park including a display from Coxhoe History Group with a special visit from ‘Roman Soldier’ Gordon from Binchester between 1.00pm and 3.00pm, and games and activities provided by our Youth Clubs and the Scouts.

There’ll be an ice cream van and refreshments for sale such as coffees and doughnuts.

Please if possible walk to these events rather than driving, to avoid any risk of disturbance to nearby residents.

We look forward to seeing you at these great community events to commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Coxhoe Parish Council is looking to employ Auxiliary Youth Workers on a casual basis, to help deliver our services for children and young people working with other members of our staff team.

We currently offer five sessions a week in Coxhoe and Quarrington Hill, with both indoor and outdoor activities, visits from coaches and other organisations, and occasional events.

The meeting of the Annual Assembly of Electors is to be held on Monday 9 May 2022 at 6.00pm at Quarrington Hill Community Centre.

This is not a Parish Council meeting but is a meeting of the electorate and it has its own special agenda. The agenda for the Annual Assembly of Electors meeting on 9 May 2022 is available here.

The report of the Parish Council Chair and the Statement of Accounts for the Parish Council for 2021 to 22 will be available at the meeting and published online when available.

The meeting will be immediately followed by the Annual Meeting of Coxhoe Parish Council.

Residents are welcome to attend this meeting. The meeting must be held in person and there will be measures in place to cut down the risks of spreading the coronavirus, therefore numbers may be limited and those present are asked to follow any safety measures put in place.

A vacancy has arisen in the office of Parish Councillor serving the Coxhoe Ward.

We have started the process of filling the post by posting a statutory public notice to determine the way in which a new Councillor may be appointed.

The agenda for the Parish Council’s next Ordinary (monthly) Meeting is now available.

The meeting is to be held at Quarrington Hill Community Centre on Monday 28 March 2022. This is the Parish Council’s April meeting. The meeting is to commence at 6.30pm. The public are invited to attend.

The press and public are welcome to attend this meeting. However due to current restrictions and risk assessment related to the coronavirus pandemic, numbers in the room will be limited.

If residents wish to raise a matter, you can attend the meeting and you can also do so by emailing the Clerk at clerk@coxhoeparishcouncil.gov.uk  (by 12.00pm on the weekday before the meeting) who can take the matter to the meeting on behalf of the resident.

Measures will be in place to keep everyone present as safe as possible from Covid-19. No one should attend this meeting in person if they have any symptoms of coronavirus . All present will be asked to maintain social distancing of at least two metres, wear a mask while moving around and follow any directions from Parish Council staff. Everyone is encouraged to take a lateral flow test before attending.
