Our community is not letting lockdown prevent them form celebrating the 75 year anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE Day).
Stay at Home Street Parties
Stay at Home Street Parties are being held on estates and streets across Coxhoe on 8 May 2020. This includes Beechfield Rise, Featherstone Estate, The Grove, The Green, Lynnpark Crescent and Bogma Avenue and Limes Close to name a few. Quarrington Hill community Centre are encouraging whole village participation in Quarrington Hill.
The street based organisers are encouraging residents to dress their houses in red, white and blue and to hold their own picnics in their own gardens to comply with social isolation rules. organisers have provided different formal start times for the celebrations but timing is basically down to individuals.
Some streets have organised street entertainment for street residents to enjoy. Details of individual programme sare on our facebook pages where we know. The Grove party organisers have a arranged a family entertainer and are asking for contributions to the Solan Cancer Trust. Details are on our facebook page.

National Two Minutes Silence
Remember to observe the National two minutes silence that will be held on Friday. This is to remember and pay respects to the fallen. This starts at 11.00 am. In Quarrington Hill there will be a klaxon sounded to notify the start and finish. Residents there are requested to stay at home to observe the silence and not congregate at the Tommies
