HOME FRONT RECALL
Home front recall is a part of a special lottery programme called Veterans Reunited. Set up to make grants to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the remarkable events that led to the 2nd World War, and to ensure that new generations can learn from their experiences.
Coxhoe Parish Council and Kelloe Community Partnership have made a joint bid for funding completed by John Hepplewhite on their behalf. A week of activities are planned in the villages of Coxhoe and Kelloe to give residents of all ages the opportunity to learn and experience the local conditions on the 'Home Front' during the war years of the 1940's .
All activities will take place in both villages ,the exception being the 1940's dance which will take place in Coxhoe Village Hall with free transport for residents of Kelloe. All Kelloe events will take place in Kelloe Primary school, either inside the school hall or on the school playing fields. Coxhoe weekday events will be at the village hall and the leisure centre and park on the Saturday afternoon.
A week of events is being organised, subject to appropriate funding being granted by the Big Lottery Fund. Organisers are very hopeful that our application will be successful as our proposed activities match the criteria which is requested
Royal Signals Military Band will be on display 12.00 noon on the 18/06/2005
