ON THE WAY TO LAST YEARS MINERS GALA

The Banner Group would like to thank everyone for all the letters and cards received after last years events. The atmosphere and turnout on both occasions was overwhelming.

This years events will start with the Gala evening band concert on Friday 8th July  at Coxhoe Workmen's Club, Doors open 7.00pm Only 200 tickets available please contact the Banner Group members 2 weeks before.

The Gala Day parade will start at 8.30 am at the bottom entrance to The Grove then proceed  around to Green Crescent ,Grange Crescent and down the broad footpath of The Avenue to the W.M.C. for refreshments. The parade will continue from the Londis shop  at 9.55am down the front street to the village hall where a hymn and tune will be played, then continue  again down to the bottom of Coxhoe where the band bus and supporters bus will leave for the New Inn Durham.

This route different to last year is to reduce the road closure time from 2 1/2 hours to 1 hour (9.45 till 10.45).We apologise to those residents who live in the areas which are not included.

The banner will start from the racecourse Durham at 1.30pm and proceed to the cathedral for a 1 hour service commencing at 3.00pm Buses will leave the New Inn Durham at 4.45pm to return to Coxhoe Club.

If you wish to use the supporters bus please see a member of the committee. The cost will be £2.50 return children under 16 will be free accompanied by an adult.
