Coxhoe Local History Group have completed a major project, and the whole of our village is benefiting.
If you haven’t already received it a free copy of their publication ‘Coxhoe Celebration of Our World War Legacy’ will be dropping through your letterbox over the next couple of weeks. The History Group have put a great deal of time into producing the book and secured Heritage Lottery Funding to meet printing cost.
The book was conceived a part of the Great War Commemorations and is the culmination of the History Group’s four year project to document the impact the war had on the village of Coxhoe. It is just one piece of work that the History Group have provided as part of the celebrations. They deserve a huge amount of credit.
The Group secured £5,100 of Heritage Lottery Funding which paid for:
- the book’s printing costs;
- the drama ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’ the group provided at the Village Hall last year;
- a booklet dispaly stand which is in the Reading room in Coxhoe Village Hall; and
- a 32 inch digital touchscreen display monitor to mke WW1 research material available to all that visit the Village Hall, which will be launched at the village Remembrance Day service in November.
The book is being delivered by the History Group Members and other volunteers.
