The Boundary Commission has submitted their final proposals for boundary reform.
Their review finished when the final report of the Commission’s recommendations was provided to the Government on 5 September 2018. The Government lays the report in Parliament, before introducing a Statutory Instrument containing those recommendations (which may not be amended by the Government) and Parliament will debate the changes. If Parliament agrees the changes to boundaries, the new constituencies will take effect at the next scheduled General Election in 2022.
The proposals show significant changes for our existing constituency. If Parliament accept the proposals it will mean that Coxhoe will no longer be in a Durham constituency it will be in a new Billingham and Sedgefield Constituency.
It would appear that there were around 20 or so individuals in Coxhoe and Quarrington Hill who made their views known to the Boundary with the majority opposing the proposals.
