Durham County Council have confirmed that carriageway resurfacing and traffic calming work is to commence on Petterson Dale on 2nd September 2018. The works will take 5 days to complete.
To enable the works to be carried out quickly and in a safe manner, for both the public and contractors, the works are to be carried out under a road closure. This will start on the furthest point of Petterson Dale working towards the mini roundabout at its junction with Coronation Terrace. Working hours will be between 7.00am to 7.00pm on Sunday 2nd September and then 9.30am – 3.30pm for the remaining period of the works. The road will be closed during such hours and reopened outside those hours. The County Council point out that works of this nature in urban areas can cause problems from time to time due to the size of plant and machinery involved. There may well be noise issues as well. The County Council promise that issues will be kept to a minimum.
The County Council are advising residents that during working hours it might be prudent to park vehicles away from their properties and the works to avoid causing any delay to daily routine as access and egrees will be restricted. Unfortunately it is not possible to provide additional car parking by the County Council during the time of the works. Durham County Council acknowledge that there is a large amount of residents affected and have asked residents they have notified to pass on the information to other residents and they find it difficult to write to everyone affected.
Disruption to residents in the area and visitors to the area will be unavoidable and it is hoped that residents can be patient during the week of the works .
There will be a DCC supervisor on site throughout the works should residents require any assistance. If you encounter any problems during the course of the works please contact the County Council’s Highways Action Line. As this is a Council project, unfortunately the Parish Council is unable to respond to any concerns of those affected.
